Welcome to our new website. We are excited to offer
this service as a new way to communicate with our patients and community.
This page will offer current messages or updated medical information from
the physicians and staff here at CMG. Look for monthly updates and feel
free to make suggestions and give us your feedback.
Our first posting is written by our senior partner, Dr. Jim Blackwell
and is a brief look back at the history of our group.
A Brief History of Cornerstone Medical Group
Cornerstone Medical Group was formed in 1997 with
the merging of Cross Plains Internal Medicine and Dalton Medical Center.
Dr. Earl McGhee started Dalton Medical Center in the early 1950s and was
soon joined by Drs. Robert Raitz and Neil Boggess (all now retired). In
1983 they recruited Dr. Wally Weeks, followed by Dr. Bryan Cheever and,
in 1995, Dr. Tom Mullen. Dr. Kerry Neises came to us in 1997.
Cross Pains Internal Medicine was begun by the late Dr. Bill Gregory and
Dr. Jim Blackwell in 1985. Dr. Sherwood Jones and Dr. Mark Elam were also
members of this fine group along with Mae Johnson, a Family Nurse Practitioner.
At the completion of the Medical Plaza Building by Hamilton Health Care
Systems, the united groups, under our new name, moved into our new quarters
in the fall of 1997.
Dr. Laura Conger joined us in 1998 and Dr. Gregory left to pursue a solo
practice. In 2000, Dr. Elam left to become director of several area nursing
homes, and Dr. Jones retired in 2001 after 36 years of practice. Dr. Phuong
Lynh Ta and Dr. Eric Jensen came in 2001. With the departure of Dr. Cheever
in 2004, the group recombined on the third floor of the Medical Plaza
and most recently added Dr. Stan Voegele to our roster in July 2007.
With our loyal staff, Cornerstone is committed to offering a full array
of primary care services. We strive to keep up with the latest advances,
while never forgetting our history of compassion and caring. |
